MYSORE ASHTANGA
RETURNS TO YOGA PUBLIC STARTING SEPTEMBER 22ND
A beginner-friendly guide to practicing Ashtanga in the Mysore style
What is Mysore?
You arrive within a practice window, roll out your mat, and begin your practice. The teacher moves around the room, offering personalized instruction, adjustments, and modifications as needed
Mysore is a self-guided practice.
You move through your practice independently while your teacher is present to offer instruction, adjustments, modifications and support throughout. Sometimes your teacher may be more hands-on, and other times they may just observe, guide, or give verbal cues. The level of support will naturally change depending on what you and your practice need that day.
Do I have to know Ashtanga already?
No! You'll learn the sequence gradually, one piece at a time. Your teacher will guide you through what to do and help you build your practice over time. If you already have an Ashtanga sequence you are working on, the teacher will give you the support you need to grow your practice.
What if I have an injury or limitation?
Tell your teacher! Your practice can be adapted to your body, and your teacher can offer modifications and guidance to help you practice safely and appropriately.
When do I come?
There is a practice window from 7-9AM, so you can arrive when it works for you within that window. Your practice will be personalized to you, so the length of your practice may look different from someone else's.
